WELLNESS AND PREVENTATIVE CARE
Preventative care is very important for your pet’s long-term health and happiness. Routine wellness exams allow our veterinarians to discover any potential health risks and/or problems that may otherwise go undetected. Homec Veterinary Care is devoted to ensuring that your animal companion(s) lives the healthiest, happiest life they can.
Learn MoreEvery routine wellness exam includes:
- A complete history of your pet’s health
- Patient vital signs
- Complete “nose to tail” examination
- Comprehensive consultation and health recommendations for each pet based on individual needs.
Other preventative measures include routine fecal and heartworm testing, vaccinations, flea, and tick preventatives, FeLV/FIV testing, and comprehensive bloodwork.
URGENT CARE
We understand that pets unexpectedly become sick or injured, and need urgent, same-day care. If you believe your pet needs immediate care, please call before visiting as all pet care is by appointment only, and we want to ensure we can tend to your pet’s specific needs. If your pet needs urgent care, we will do our best to accommodate same-day appointments. Our highly trained staff will perform a triage assessment to determine the stability of your pet and the need for medical intervention.
Learn MoreDENTISTRY
One of the most common but also frequently overlooked health problems for companion animals is dental disease. Left untreated dental disease can result in tooth loss, and damage to vital organs such as the heart, liver, lungs, and kidneys. During a physical exam, our veterinarians will complete a thorough oral health examination to identify dental disease and discuss treatment.
Learn MoreWhen it comes to dental disease, most pet parents don’t realize the extent of the problem until it is quite advanced; hence the importance of yearly to twice yearly physical examinations including a thorough oral health care assessment. In the early stages of dental disease, home dental health care measures such as tooth brushing, dental treats, rinses, and dental diets may be recommended. When professional dental care is needed for your pet, general anesthesia is necessary. Our care team will discuss the procedures involved when dental treatments are needed. Most often, this will involve a day at Homec Veterinary Care to plan and perform the procedures, which may include doing:
- Pre-operative lab work
- IV catheterization
- General anesthesia
- Dental x-rays
- Teeth cleaning and polishing
- Dental charting
- Surgical extractions when indicated
Upon discharge, our care team will review any instructions pertaining to post-dental medications, special feeding instructions, and when to resume home dental care. Your pet will thank you for remembering to take care of his or her mouth and live a longer and happier life as a result.
ORTHOPEDIC AND SOFT TISSUE SURGERY
At some point in your pet’s life, they may need a surgical procedure, and you can rest assured that Homec Veterinary Care will provide the very best care possible for your pet.
Following Are Some Of The Surgical Services We Provide At Homec Veterinary Care:
- Routine spay and neuter
- Tooth extractions
- Tumor removal
- Abdominal surgery of the spleen, urinary bladder, and intestines
- Orthopedic surgeries such as knee, hip, and fracture repairs
- Biopsies
- Ear and eye surgery
In the best interests of your pet, we require a physical examination appointment prior to scheduling procedures. Before the procedure is scheduled, our care team will explain the process including:
- Any pre-surgical testing that is recommended — baseline laboratory testing is beneficial so that there are no surprises on surgery day. Knowing that your pet has normal blood test results can help prevent anesthetic complications or surgical complications such as excessive bleeding, which can occur when patients have low platelet counts or abnormal clotting. When there is liver or kidney disease, this may affect the choices of anesthetic drugs recommended by your veterinarian, to prevent anesthetic complications and promote a smooth anesthetic recovery.
- Food and water intake restrictions prior to surgery — a period of fasting may be necessary prior to your pet’s procedure. Our care team will let you know what is advised.
- What procedures are to be done on the day of surgery — from the initial intake to sedation and general anesthesia, anesthesia monitoring, the procedure, and recovery, our care team will walk you through what will happen with your pet once you leave the hospital.
- Aftercare for your pet —our care team will discuss aftercare for your pet and any progress exams needed.

DIGITAL RADIOLOGY
Digital radiography (x-rays) enables our care team to obtain instant results. These images can be easily enhanced and manipulated, allowing for a more accurate diagnosis. By using digital radiography, we can provide our pet parents with a faster and more precise diagnoses, leading to improved treatment outcomes and enhanced care for our patients.
ULTRASONOGRAPHY
Ultrasonography is a non-invasive imaging technique that has become an invaluable tool in veterinary medicine. Using high-frequency sound waves, our veterinarians can visualize internal structures and organs in real-time, providing valuable diagnostic information.
Learn MoreBenefits of ultrasonography:
Ultrasonography is particularly useful for examining soft tissues, such as the abdomen, heart, and reproductive organs. It enables our veterinarians to identify abnormalities, assess organ function, and detect conditions such as tumors, cysts, and pregnancy.
With its immediate results and absence of radiation, ultrasonography offers a safe and efficient means of diagnosing and monitoring animals. By incorporating ultrasonography into our practice, we enhance our ability to deliver an accurate diagnosis and develop targeted treatment plans, ultimately ensuring the best possible care for your pet.
